Dreamcatcher Film Camp offers an unforgettable cinematic journey for both new and returning campers. Set against the inspiring backdrop of St Mary's University, Twickenham, our advanced weeklong residential camp is designed for young aspiring filmmakers eager to dive into the magic of storytelling and film production. With 15 years of expertise in creating immersive camp experiences, we are thrilled to bring your filmmaking dreams to life this summer.
Past pupils have gone on to work in Hollywood such as Ty Tennant on ‘The House of the Dragon’, Sonny Serkis on The Witcher and Isabella Blake Thomas as a Disney Princess to mention but a few.
What’s in Store? Throughout the week, you’ll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of filmmaking, learning from industry experts and top-tier professionals. Whether you're a budding director, aspiring special effects makeup artist, or curious about lighting and stage combat, Dreamcatcher Film Camp offers a comprehensive film education. Past guest speakers include industry leaders like, Bradley Walsh, TV Presenter/Actor, Rylan Clark, TV Presenter, Niyi Akeju, Head of BFI Academy, offering invaluable insights and career advice.
One of the highlights of the camp is an exclusive studio visit to one of London's premier film studios. (Studio visit details will be finalized closer to the camp dates due to changing studio schedules.)

Personal Growth & Mentorship:
At Dreamcatcher Film Camp, you’ll also benefit from hands-on mentorship. Industry professionals and experienced camp staff will guide you throughout the week, helping you grow both as a filmmaker and as an individual. Bootcamp on Soft Skills & Work Experience Preparation: In addition to technical filmmaking skills, Dreamcatcher Film Camp also offers a Bootcamp on Soft Skills for the Film Industry. This special session is designed to help students understand the importance of professional behavior and attitude when entering the world of work experience and internships. You’ll learn essential skills like how to:

Hands-On Learning Experiences:

Scripting: Discover the process of developing a film from an initial idea to a finished script. Explore the art of story structure, character development, and the crucial elements of tension, conflict, and resolution.

Directing: Learn the essentials of filmmaking language and the art of directing. With hands-on demonstrations, you'll understand how camera movement, visual composition, and editing contribute to telling a compelling story. Students will take on various crew roles, gaining a well-rounded experience.

Shooting: Students will work with state-of-the-art equipment, including 6k Black Magic cameras, Camera Jibs, 3 Axis Digital Gimbals, Boom Poles, and more. You'll be part of a working production team, shooting a short TV/film production.

Editing: After filming, students will have the opportunity to get involved in the post-production process through an editing workshop. Each filmmaker will receive a digital copy of their completed film, showcasing their hard work and new skills.
Networking Opportunities: This is more than just a camp—it's an opportunity to build a network within the film industry. Through interactions with professionals in the field, you'll gain insights and contacts that could play an important role in your future career. The Dreamcatcher Film Camp community of like-minded creatives will support you beyond the summer.

What's Included: The camp fee covers ensuite accommodation, all meals (including packed lunches on excursions), a studio visit, and evening entertainment.

SAFETY AND STUDENT WELLBEING
The safety and well-being of our students are our prime concern at all times. Dreamcatcher Summer Camp boasts a high staff-student ratio, and all our experienced filmmaking and social staff are Enhanced DBS-checked. Our staff are trained in current safeguarding requirements. At all times, we aim to look after your child as if they were our own. There is 24-hour supervision of students, and our staff are there to monitor each student’s well-being and ensure that any concerns they may have are heard and resolved swiftly, where possible. Students travelling from overseas must have travel insurance in place to cover any healthcare emergencies that occur while in the UK.
OVERSEAS STUDENTS
We welcome students from all over the world at Dreamcatcher Film Summer Camp! Sharing new cultures is part of the camp experience. If overseas students are not native English speakers, they need to be at least level C1 (Advanced), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
